POETRY WALK

EXERCISING OF THE MIND & BODY, FOCUS & MINDFULNESS, CONNECTION TO EMOTION, EXPRESSION & COMMUNICATION

A Poetry Walk is a creative and mindful activity that combines the appreciation of poetry with the enjoyment of nature. It involves going for a walk in a natural setting, like a park or a trail, and using the experience to inspire the writing of poetry. The idea is to slow down, observe the details of the environment using all five senses, and then express those observations and feelings through poetry.

CURIOSITY WALK

THE ART OF MAKING FRIENDS, GROWTH & LEARNING, EMPATHY, OPEN-MINDNESS, CREATIVITY, & PROBLEM SOLVING

Nature offers a beautiful platform for connection. However, initiating conversations, particularly with strangers or new friends, can be intimidating. Many grapple with shyness, fear of judgment, or simply a lack of conversation starters.

Ready for a journey of curiosity, exploration, and connection? Nature provides a splendid setting for nurturing curiosity. Each activity includes a prompt or question to help you better understand your walking partner. Explore why curiosity is vital in life, & how it fosters empathy and understanding.

HARRY POTTER WALK – THE MAGIC WITHIN

Discover the extraordinary power of self-discovery, embrace your inner magic, and master the art of mindfulness. Join us as we combine the captivating world of Harry Potter with the wonders of nature, awakening our senses, inspiring creativity, and bringing us closer to our true selves.

Art is often used to aid individuals in expressing themselves, overcoming emotional challenges, and developing self-awareness. It’s a non-verbal method for understanding and processing emotions, thoughts, and experiences, beneficial for all ages, abilities, and backgrounds. It can help process difficult experiences like trauma, grief, loss, and address health issues such as anxiety, depression, and PTSD. Viewing art can also provide insight into one’s emotions and thoughts.

A NOTE FROM YOUR HOST, MWANDANI

Photography is where I express myself. It awakens my soul and ignites my inner child and its creativity. When I look through the lens, my world becomes a Canvas where anything and everything is possible. Through the lens there is beauty and expression, that expands the mind allowing one’s perception of the world to change therefore giving a better understanding to the world we live in.

I began taking Black and White Photography with film in Bakersfield, California when my youngest was only months old. One day, after my yearly trip to Montgomery Wards for yearly photos of my children, I decided I would like to take the photos myself. From that moment on my love for photography grew. Years later, when the world went digital, focusing on Color and manipulation, the world of B&W seemed to become a thing of the past. Film is my preferred method as there is nothing like being in a dark room and watching that photo come to life through. Especially when that photo that was taken in the present, transforms into an antiquity of the past. Most my work is in color nowadays and spent mostly in nature. I love working with light, reflection, and contrast, and sharing my art with others brings me great joy.
